A visit to this fort helped to understand the historical significance of the flight of broad steps that led to the Observation tower, from where the other towns can be viewed. It was said that this Fort was protected from its enemies as this tower was considered to be of prime significance in defense mechanism.
It is considered as a shooting spot for movies and one of the sightseeing places in Kerala.
