Truly a Nirvana city – Udaipur in Rajasthan is a heavenly place popular for romantic lake palace resorts, mystic lakes, and the splendid City Palace museum. I have toured Rajasthan a couple of times before and have always appreciated its unique flavour of culture, tradition, and architecture. It was this January I decided to tour to Udaipur, the mesmerising city placed on the Aravalli Range of India and also some interesting places to visit in Udaipur.

Places To Visit In Udaipur

The Mystic Lake Pichola

The Mystic Lake Pichola

Cold during January is quite bearable, and I had an amazing time during a morning walk near the lake. Lake Pichola is one of the finest places to visit in Udaipur that takes you close to the Jag Mandir and the Jag Niwas Palace. These are the best hotels in the city where most of the rich citizens and few celebrities got married.  The boat ride is the only mode to reach to these destinations.

City Palace – Architecture Stand Apart

After having a splendid time, I went to the magnificent City Palace; a part of this massive palace is transformed into a museum.  I paid INR 50 as the entry fee, and if you wish to take your camera, then you have to pay an additional sum of INR 200. The Mor Chowk or Peacock Hall is the most fabulous site in the palace. The spectacular inlay art depicting peacocks on the palace walls is exquisite. The showcase of weapons and armour belonging to Maharana Pratap Singh are the other immaculate elements of this palace.

Exotic Adventure Spot – Macha Hill

Later, I took a ride on the cable car to the hilltop to reach Macha Hill, one of the exotic places to visit in Udaipur. The cost for a ride is INR 80, and it was truly worth it. I preferred climbing few stairs that are not much strenuous. The ultimate view of the entire Udaipur city from there was absolutely majestic. Even, I was able to view all major regions of Udaipur from this single spot.

Traditional Heritage – Manshapurna Karni Mata Temple

Traditional Heritage – Manshapurna Karni Mata Temple

Another heritage landmark in Udaipur is the Sri Manshapurna Karni Mata Temple, which is located on the summit of the Macha Hill. The temple is devoted to the female sage who is a deity of the royal families of Bikaner and Jodhpur. Watching this site was truly interesting as it is believed that one who sights a white mouse is considered lucky, and fortunately I was able to sight one!

Cosy and Relaxing Gardens

Cozy and Relaxing GardensSaheliyon ki Bari is a glorious park in the city that was structured for the female members of the royal families. Today, it is a day palace where I had a great relaxing time. The heart throbbing sight of the Fateh Sagar Lake was my next destination in the city. It is a magical place where I spent few hours resting beside it and sighting its marvellous beauty. The Kumbaya Bazar is also a fine destination that captured my attraction.

Dudh Talai, Sajjan Garh, Rana Pratap Memorial, and Lake Pichola are the other places to visit in Udaipur.
